Gelli Printmaking

Gelli printmaking is done on a gelli plate and lends itself well to experimentation with stencils, leaves, string, and other assorted items. Printing can be done with layers of colored ink to create rich, interesting images. Using a variety of printing papers including maps, music paper, newspaper, and assorted colored paper can also add to the unique results of gelli printing. Images can be stand-alone art or used as cards.

Learn to Make and Use a Stone Spirit Wheel in your yard or home for meditation and contemplation. Virtually every indigenous culture in the world created some form of outdoor sanctuary where time was spent connecting with spirits of nature. Each spirit wheel includes a center, an inner circle, an outer circle and at least 4 pathways aligned with the cardinal directions; all points or shapes are formed with objects from nature that honor Earth's elements, as well as significant events in one's life. Class I includes history and framework; Class 2 creates one as a group and explores how to use it.

Acadian Arts Asian Fusion Cooking Retreat - Roosevelt Campobello Int’l Park, New Brunswick, Canada

Step back to a time when President Franklin Roosevelt, Eleanor, and their family escaped to their “beautiful little island” in the Canadian Maritimes, Campobello Island. We will be exclusive guests of the international park, staying in historic Victorian cottages. Workshop participants will explore and paint the same coastal scenery enjoyed by the summer residents at the turn of the 20th century. All meals are included in the workshop fee as well as specially planned optional evening activities designed to extend your learning from the day’s workshops, including a private concert by award-winning Celtic Fiddle player, Katherine Moller, and A Special Program in October, for Indigenous People’s Day weekend, an evening program about Native American Basketry by Catherine Hunter, in the Victorian parlor of Hubbard House.
